The Cincinnati Bengals (1-0) feel they're just getting started on a very special season. A 23-10 drubbing of Kansas City in the opener showed that Carson Palmer is all the way back from knee surgery, and he's got a defense to back him up this year. ``You look at it, fiv |

BEREA, Ohio (AP) -Browns wide receiver Joe Jurevicius did not suffer any broken ribs in Cleveland's season-opening loss to New Orleans but will miss Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Jurevicius was injured in the first quarter on Sunday while making a 20-yard catch on a fourth-down play that was called back by a penalty. Coach Romeo Crennel said Jurevicius ``has some rib-area damage'' but would not elaborate. ``Joe is definitely out this week,'' Crennel said. ``I don't have a long-range forec |

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry avoided jail time by pleading guilty Tuesday to a concealed weapon charge. In exchange for the plea, Henry will be on probation for two years, serve 100 hours of community service, attend a firearms safety class and forfeit the 9 mm gun he pulled during a skirmish in downtown Orlando. Circuit Judge John Kest agreed to withhold adjudication on the felony count because Henry had no prior convictions, despite his guilty plea to a marijuana posse |

CINCINNATI (AP) -For once, Carson Palmer was overshadowed by his defense. The Cincinnati Bengals had seven sacks - all by linemen - and generally had their way with one of the NFL's most dangerous offenses in their season opener, a sharp break from their recent past. The defending AFC North champs had two major concerns in the offseason: getting Palmer back from a knee injury, and getting the defense up to playoff standards. Palmer was fine during the 23-10 win in Kansas City. The defense was better yet. |

CINCINNATI (AP) -The cards and letters provided a needed laugh. Not much had gone right for Carson Palmer since his first pass in the Cincinnati Bengals' first playoff game in 15 years. Pittsburgh's Kimo von Oelhoffen crashed into his left knee. Ligaments burst. The kneecap dislocated. Doctors reassembled the jigsaw puzzle. A lonely, painful rehab was just getting started. And all the while, those Steelers - the ones that the Bengals had replaced as AFC North champs, the ones that had ended Palmer's season |

And opponents converted 54.8 percent of their third-down chances against Green Bay's revamped defense, which gave up 48 points to the Cincinnati Bengals in the third preseason game that is generally considered a dress rehearsal for the regular season. If both those trends continue to drag the Packers down, will Favre's gunslinger tendencies resurface? Favre has promised to try ``dinking and dunk |
