HOUSTON (AP) -Travis Johnson was heralded as an all-around defensive lineman when the Houston Texans drafted him 16th in 2005. He was supposed to be strong, explosive and as tough a pass rusher as he was against the run. But with two disappointing seasons behind him, Johnson has yet to live up to that potential and it might be time to wonder if he ever will. Johnson had 26 tackles and a sack in 15 games as a rookie while struggling to adjust to former coach Dom Capers' 3-4 defense after playing in a |

"He (Earl) does have the lis-franc injury," said Houston head coach Gary Kubiak. "He'll have surgery on Tuesday. The recovery on this: nine to twelve months, so Glenn's season is done. He will go on injured reserve. Glenn was having a fine camp and he's a big part of this football team so that's a big blow to this football team. He definitely will be out for the season." Earl p |

HOUSTON (AP) -Matt Schaub was just what coach Gary Kubiak expected him to be in his first game with the Houston Texans. He was poised, made smart decisions and evaded defenders when pressured. That doesn't mean there aren't things he could have done better. Schaub overthrew a wide-open Kevin Walter in the end zone in the first quarter of Houston's 20-19 loss to Chicago on Saturday night in the preseason opener for both teams. But he also evaded the rush and got off a perfectly thrown pass on third do |

HOUSTON (AP) -Matt Schaub's first pass for the Houston Texans was for 2 yards. His second one was dropped. This revamped Texans offense sure looks a lot like the old one. Schaub, who replaced David Carr after backing up Michael Vick for three years in Atlanta, had an inauspicious debut going 3-for-5 for 25 yards. But the defending NFC champion Chicago Bears scored 13 fourth quarter points, including a 47-yard go-ahead field goal by Robbie Gould with 36 seconds remaining to beat the Texans 20-19 in the |

HOUSTON (AP) -Houston Texans defensive end N.D. Kalu sees a lot of himself in rookie Amobi Okoye. Most of it has nothing to do with football. Kalu and Okoye are the sons of Nigerian parents and descendants of the same tribe, the Ibo. Both were raised by stern disciplinarians who taught that getting an education, not playing sports, was the path to prosperity. Both convinced their parents that football was a noble pursuit - and both managed to be precocious college students anyway. ``We have a lot of |

HOUSTON (AP) -After suffering through four straight losing seasons, Andre Johnson has just one goal this year. He wants to lead the Houston Texans to their first playoff appearance. It's time, he says, and this year that's the only thing that matters to the Pro Bowl receiver. ``No more excuses,'' he said. ``We've been in this system. We can't make excuses about nothing no more, you just have to go out and play.'' Johnson, who joined the Texans after their first season, has been one of the only cons |
