Garrard, Jags, Test Mettle Against Titans NFL Football 09/07/2007
(MySportsbook) - Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio has invested a lot in David Garrard, and he will get a chance to see what his new starting quarterback can do under the new title this Sunday against the Tennessee Titans at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium. Garrard beat out former first-round draft pick Byron Leftwich, who under-performed in four injury-plagued seasons with Jacksonville. Leftwich was released by the team last week after he completed 19-of-38 passes for 226 yards and a touchdown in the
Jags' LB Ingram sidelined for opener with sprained ankle Headlines 09/07/2007

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -The Jacksonville Jaguars will be without starting linebacker Clint Ingram in the season opener against Tennessee.

Ingram, a second-year pro from Oklahoma, sprained his ankle in the preseason opener at Miami on Aug. 11 and has practiced sparingly since. He was ruled out Friday. Either Pat Thomas or rookie Justin Durant will start in his place.

Thomas hasn't started a game in his two seasons and spent most of last year on injured reserve. Durant, the three-time Mid-Eastern Athletic Con

Jags sign veteran CB Glenn NFL Football 09/03/2007
Jacksonville, FL (MySportsbook) - The Jacksonville Jaguars signed veteran cornerback Aaron Glenn on Monday. Glenn spent the previous two seasons with the Dallas Cowboys before being released in the final cutdown on September 1. The 35-year-old Glenn played in all 16 games for the Cowboys last season (one start) and recorded 20 tackles and one interception. The interception extended his streak of 12 consecutive seasons with a pick, which is tied for the NFL's longest active stretch along with the Kansas City Chie
Jaguars Cut Leftwich, 18 Others; Trade Pearman NFL Football 09/02/2007
Jacksonville, FL (MySportsbook) - The Jacksonville Jaguars released former starting quarterback Byron Leftwich on Saturday, also trading running back Alvin Pearman and cutting 18 others as part of their "cut-down day" maneuvers. The imminent departure of Leftwich was announced by the team on Friday, though it was unknown until Saturday whether the club would trade or release the former first-round pick. The team chose the latter route, parting ways with a player who had started 44 games for them since being sele
Jaguars release oft-injured QB Byron Leftwich, others NFL Football 09/01/2007

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -The Jacksonville Jaguars released oft-injured quarterback Byron Leftwich on Saturday, one day after announcing they planned to part ways with the former first-round draft pick.

The Jaguars had hoped to trade Leftwich, but also said they were prepared to release him in hopes of avoiding any locker room problems stemming from his demotion.

The team also released 18 others, including receiver Charles Sharon, defensive tackle Seth Payne and cornerbacks Bruce Thornton and Dee Webb.

NFL 2007: Consistently inconsistent Jaguars trying to change roller-coaster ways NFL Football 08/31/2007

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -The Jacksonville Jaguars are ready to ``get off the roller coaster,'' and they're turning to quarterback David Garrard to help make it happen.

They are tired of the ups and downs and highs and lows that come from beating a division leader or playoff-caliber team one week, then dishearteningly losing to a less-talented team the next.

It happened more than they care to remember last season, and coach Jack Del Rio has made consistency the team's motto for 2007. He talked about it during

Jaguars plan to trade or release Leftwich after 4 injury-filled seasons Headlines 08/31/2007

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -One of coach Jack Del Rio's first decisions with the Jacksonville Jaguars was drafting Byron Leftwich.

One of his toughest was letting him go.

Del Rio and the Jaguars said Friday they are parting ways with Leftwich after four frustrating, injury-filled seasons. They hope to trade him, but are resigned to releasing the former first-round draft pick.

``To make a decision this bold requires some strong conviction, and I have that,'' Del Rio said.

Del Rio also chose mobile backup Dav

Patriots sign Chris Hanson NFL Football 08/30/2007
Foxboro, MA (MySportsbook) - The New England Patriots have signed punter Chris Hanson, who was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars this past May and had his contract terminated by New Orleans on Tuesday.
