Wilkins beats buzzer as Minnesota rallies to edge Nets NBA Basketball 10/29/2009
Minneapolis, MN (MySportsbook) - Damien Wilkins hit a leaning bank shot as time expired, and the Minnesota Timberwolves responded from a 16-point fourth quarter deficit to stun the New Jersey Nets, 95-93, in the season opener for both clubs. Wilkins, who played in just 41 games for the Thunder last season, grabbed a rebound with 1.3 seconds left, jumped and hurled an off-balance shot that found its way to the bottom of the basket. The Timberwolves closed the game on a 24-6 run in the final 6:50 to win the g

Rambis became the ninth head coach in the team's 20-year history had been an assistant with the Los Angeles Lakers for 10 seasons, helping the team to NBA titles in 2002 and 2009. The blockbuster NBA trade this summer in which the Orlando Magic acquired the eight-time All-Star from the New Jersey Nets has had major ramifications for the Carter family, a long-awaited homecoming realized.

Stern hopeful on sale of Nets, return of referees NBA Basketball 10/22/2009

NEW YORK (AP) -David Stern says the sale of the New Jersey Nets to Russia's richest man could be approved by the end of the year.

Stern said Thursday that Mikhail Prokhorov, who has a deal to buy 80 percent of the team, had a positive introduction with NBA owners during their two-day Board of Governors meetings.

Prokhorov's application is currently under review and the sale must be approved by three-fourths of the league's owners.

Stern also says he's hopeful the referees will approve a new contract w

NBA seems OK with Nets playing in Newark for now NBA Basketball 10/22/2009

NEW YORK (AP) -The NBA doesn't seem likely to stand in the way if the New Jersey Nets decide to move their home games to Newark.

The Star-Ledger reported Thursday that the Nets were considering playing regular-season games at the Prudential Center while an arena is being built in Brooklyn, as long as they don't have to pay an $8 million penalty to get out of their lease at the Meadowlands.

The Nets played two preseason games in Newark, both drawing far more than they usually have at the Izod Center. The

(MySportsbook) - There were a lot of changes in north Jersey over the summer. The New Jersey Nets finally parted ways with Vince Carter in the offseason and Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov agreed to buy 80 percent of the franchise and 45 percent of the proposed Barclays Center arena in Brooklyn from owner Bruce Ratner. If Ratner can overcome a few legal hurdles, Prokhorov's deep pockets will be a welcome sight for the organization which reportedly lost nearly $25 million in the first six months of 200

In oral arguments Wednesday at the Court of Appeals, a lawyer for owners and tenants says Bruce Ratner's proposed $4.9 billion, 22-acre Atlantic Yards project mainly enriches private interests.
