HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) -The New York Jets moved up in the first round and snatched the shutdown cornerback they coveted. The Jets traded their first-round pick - No. 25 overall - to Carolina for the Panthers' first-rounder - No. 14 - and selected Pittsburgh cornerback Darrelle Revis on Saturday. New York also gave Carolina a second-rounder and a fifth-rounder in this year's draft, and received the Panthers' sixth-round choice. Revis should immediately fill one of the Jets' biggest needs. | the 1996 draft. That year, the top-rated player on the board was another tall wideout named Johnson - Keyshawn - and, like this year, the position had depth. Five receivers were selected in the first round, followed by six more in the second. The New York Jets took Johnson with the top pick in '96, and he proved to be a worthy selection with more than 10,000 receiving yards over his 11 seasons. But a look down that year's draft board shows the Jets could have waited and still gotten a stud receiver. The s |

Johnson, the No. 1 overall pick of the 1996 draft by the New York Jets, has won a Super Bowl with Tampa Bay and been a lead receiver for the Jets, Buccaneers and Cowboys. Currently with the Carolina Panthers and heading into his 12th pro season, Johnson knows the bulk of his playing career is behind him. So he's prep |

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) - Mike Tannenbaum resisted the urge to make a flashy pick with the fourth overall selection last year in his first NFL draft as the New York Jets' general manager. Instead, he took an offensive lineman - and was cheered by traditionally critical Jets fans, the first victory of the GM's young tenure. A year after one of the most impressive rookie classes in recent team history helped New York to a surprising playoff appearance, Tannenbaum is preparing to go on the clock for his encor |

| INCINNATI (AP) -Guard Stacy Andrews signed a one-year contract Monday with the Cincinnati Bengals, who had made him one of their restricted free agents. Andrews, a fourth-year player who started three games last season, had drawn interest from the New York Jets. The Jets would have had to give the Bengals a second-round draft pick in compensation if they signed Andrews. A fourth-round draft pick in 2004, Andrews had made a slow transition to the NFL.
