NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -The Tennessee Titans might dodge the question of who their starting quarterback is by giving rookie Vince Young the start in their final exhibition game. The Titans are stuck in a situation where Billy Volek, chosen as the starter when Steve McNair was traded, now has competition after the team signed 11-year veteran Kerry Collins on Monday. Volek isn't happy with the move and might be seeking a trade. He declined to talk to reporters Wednesday, referring questions to his agent, Dr |

After becoming Rose Bowl MVP for the second straight year by helping Texas beat USC 41-38 in the Bowl Championship Series title game, Young passed up his senior season and was the No. 3 overall selection in the NFL draft by the Tennessee Titans. ``He's a really confident guy,'' offensive lineman Justin Blalock said of McCoy. ``He is really passionate about what he does and you can kind of sense that when he's in the huddle talking. He has also made great strides during camp as well. He's |

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -The Tennessee Titans signed veteran quarterback Kerry Collins on Monday, finally deciding they need more experience after trading Steve McNair. Coach Jeff Fisher said Collins already met with offensive coordinator Norm Chow for about an hour and would be in practice Tuesday. Fisher said Billy Volek remains the starter, with rookie Vince Young backing him up while Collins learns the offense. ``Billy's got some competition,'' Fisher said. ``I've spoken with Billy. | ``That's the way we're going to approach the week with all the players. They need to be ready to play for as long as we decide to keep them in the game.'' Asked if he might not announce a starter even in the days before the Sept. 10 opener at the Tennessee Titans, Mangini said, ``It would depend on whether someone has distinguished himself by the time we get to Tennessee.'' Such indecision might bother players on some other teams, but Pennington, who started the 13-7 loss to the Giants on Friday night, sai |

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) -Tennessee Titans cornerback Adam ``Pacman'' Jones was arrested outside a bar early Friday and charged with disorderly conduct and public intoxication. Jones will not play Saturday against Atlanta in the Titans' third preseason game. ``I am going sit him out of this game on principle and not because I believe he is guilty in this case based on what I believe the facts are at this time,'' coach Jeff Fisher said in a statement released Friday. ``Last January I let the team know tha |

If everything goes to plan Saturday night, the 6-foot Vick and Young, the No. 3 pick overall out of Texas, could be leading their offenses in the same quarter when the Atlanta Falcons (1-1) visit the Tennessee Titans (0-2) in a preseason game. Falcons coach Jim Mora plans to play his starters at least to halftime and possibly a series or two into the third quarter. Young is expected to relieve starter Billy Volek and work behind the Titans' first-team offensiv |

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -The Tennessee Titans signed David Givens away from the New England Patriots to boost their receiving corps. Unfortunately, a strained hamstring may keep him from catching a pass that counts until the season opener. Givens, who strained his right hamstring last week, won't play Saturday night against the Atlanta Falcons. Both he and coach Jeff Fisher think he might play in the Titans' exhibition finale in Green Bay on Sept. 1, but the important game is the opener Sept. 10 against the |

Stopped behind the line, he changed direction and sped past two Tennessee Titans for a 44-yard gain. ``He's the real deal,'' Leinart said. ``I told him, he's going to have about 1,000 to 1,500 yards rushing and 1,000 yards catching. It's realistic, I think, just with the way they can use them.'' Leinart would not, however, p |
