Lake Forest, IL (My Sportsbook) - The Chicago Bears placed quarterback Jim Miller on injured reserve Friday and signed linebacker Marq Cerqua from the practice squad to the active roster. Miller has been hampered by tendinitis in his right elbow and shoulder since mid-October and also sprained his left knee and suffered a bone bruise during a contest versus Miami on December 9. He completed 180-of-314 passes (57.3 percent) this season for 1,944 yards with 13 touchdowns and nine interceptions. Miller is scheduled to undergo arthroscopic surgery on the injured shoulder in January. The 31-year old Miller has also played for the Steelers, Jaguars and Falcons. He has thrown 36 touchdown passes and 31 interceptions in nine seasons in the NFL. Miller has started 27 games over his career. Miller ended his fourth straight season in street clothes. After serving a four-game suspension for a steroid violation in 1999, Miller tore his Achilles' tendon in November 2000 and separated his right shoulder in last season's playoff loss to Philadelphia.
