Chicago, IL (My Sportsbook) - Ron Santo, the Chicago Cubs former All-Star third baseman and the team's radio analyst since 1990, had his left leg amputated below the knee on Friday. He was being treated at an undisclosed hospital in Scottsdale, Arizona. "Possibly this could heal in about three months. But again, you don't know," Santo told WGN-AM radio. The 62-year-old Santo has been a diabetic since 18 and also had his right leg amputated below the knee in December 2001. Santo spent 14 of his 15 major league seasons with the Cubs and finished his career with 342 home runs while winning five Gold Gloves.
