Ashburn, VA (My Sportsbook) - Washington Redskins safety Brandon Meriweather will miss the remainder of the 2012 season after tearing the ACL in his right knee in Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Meriweather suffered the injury during the third quarter of the Redskins' 31-6 win, with head coach Mike Shanahan revealing during his Monday press conference that the two-time Pro Bowl selection would be placed on injured reserve.

Signed to a two-year contract by Washington in March after stops in New England and Chicago, Meriweather made a belated debut with his new club in the Philadelphia game. The sixth-year pro sprained his left knee during the preseason, then re-injured it while colliding with teammate Aldrick Robinson during warmups before the Redskins' Week 4 tilt at Tampa Bay.

Prior to getting hurt, Meriweather accumulated seven tackles, an interception and two passes defensed against the Eagles.
