Toronto, ON (My Sportsbook) - The Blue Jays are set to bring John Gibbons back for his second stint as manager, according to a report in the Toronto Sun.

Gibbons managed the Blue Jays for parts of five seasons from 2004-2008 and he led the team to a 305-305 record over that span.

He replaced Carlos Tosca late in the 2004 season and Toronto went 20-30 over the final 50 games to finish with a 67-94 mark.

The Blue Jays then improved their record over the next two seasons under Gibbons, finishing at 80-82 in 2005 and ending in second place in the AL East in 2006 at 87-75.

It was the first time Toronto finished better than third place in the division since 1993.

After tripping slightly to an 83-79 record in 2007, he was fired 74 games into the 2008 season with the team at 35-39 and was replaced by Cito Gaston.
