Honolulu, HI (My Sportsbook) - SMU accepted an invitation to play in the 2012 Hawaii Bowl on Monday.

The Mustangs, led by head coach June Jones, will meet a team from the Mountain West Conference on Christmas Eve at Aloha Stadium.

"Having been affiliated with this bowl since its inception, I know that it is one of the best bowl experiences in college football," said Jones, who coached Hawaii for nine years (1999-2007) and took SMU to the 2009 Hawaii Bowl. "I'm very excited for our players, staff and fans. This is a special experience."

SMU finished the season with a 6-6 mark and will be appearing in its fourth consecutive bowl game.
