Denver, CO (My Sportsbook) - Rob Blake had two goals and an assist to lead the Colorado Avalanche to a 5-3 win over the Vancouver Canucks at the Pepsi Center. Derek Morris and Dean McAmmond each recorded a goal and two assists for the Avalanche, who have won all three games under new head coach Tony Granato and improve to 4-0-1 in their last five contests. Milan Hejduk also scored in the win. Patrick Roy made 33 saves for the Avs. Markus Naslund posted his 23rd goal of the year for Vancouver, which had its two-game winning streak stopped. Daniel Sedin and Trevor Letowski both scored in the loss. Peter Skudra made 19 stops before Tyler Moss came in to turn aside 13 of the 14 shots he faced. Colorado grabbed a 1-0 lead on Morris' power-play goal 4:00 into the first period and cruised to the victory. Blake's first goal of the night made it 2-0 with 51 seconds left in the opening period. Blake wristed a shot from the top right circle past Skudra's right pad. The Avalanche grabbed a 3-0 cushion when Blake posted a power-play tally 7:02 into the second period. Morris unloaded a shot off the back boards and the puck trickled out in front to Blake, who pushed the disc between the left post and Skudra's right arm. Hejduk skated in front and lifted the puck over the goaltender's stick with 4:02 left in the period, giving Colorado a 4-0 advantage. Vancouver reached the scoreboard less than two minutes later on Sedin's power- play goal to make it a 4-1 contest. Sedin beat Roy with a wrister from in close. Colorado continued its second period scoring barrage, as McAmmond lit the lamp on the power play with 1:10 remaining in the second period. The Canucks found the back of the net 50 seconds into the third period on Letowski's goal. Naslund's wrist shot beat Roy high to the glove side at the 17:53 mark of the third to complete the scoring.
