Philadelphia, PA (My Sportsbook) - The Philadelphia Phillies placed relief pitcher Geoff Geary on the 15-day disabled list after Friday's loss to the Florida Marlins. Geary suffered an eye contusion in a July 8 game against the Washington Nationals and hasn't played since. Geary sustained the injury at the plate after he fouled a ball off the ground and it came back and hit him in the eye. Geary had two strikes on him at the time and had to be replaced by Phillies pitcher Jon Lieber. The 28-year-old righthander is 1-0 with a 4.60 ERA in 19 games this season. The Phillies recalled shortstop Danny Sandoval from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes Barre to take Geary's place on the roster.
