Los Angeles Lakers attempt to capture their third straight win on Saturday when they square off with the red-hot
Phoenix Suns in a Pacific Division clash at America West Arena.
Los Angeles has captured back-to-back wins for the first time since December 6-8. Most recently, the Lakers cruised to a 104-88 home victory over the Toronto Raptors on Sunday.
Shaquille O'Neal poured in 35 points on 14-of-18 shooting and grabbed 10 rebounds to power the Lakers past Toronto.
Rick Fox collected 15 points and Kobe Bryant chipped in 13 points, 12 assists and nine boards for Los Angeles, which shot 53 percent from the field (43- of-81) and outrebounded the Raptors, 44-29.
The Lakers have won two straight on the road, but are just 4-13 overall away from home this season. LA is 8-10 against the Western Conference, with a 3-3 mark within the Pacific Division.
Meanwhile, the Suns have won six of their last seven games and 10 of their past 12. Phoenix is coming off a 96-78 home victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday.
Shawn Marion scored 24 points to lead the Suns. Amare Stoudemire chipped in 20 points and 11 rebounds for his 12th double-double of the season.
Stephon Marbury added 12 points and 10 assists, while Anfernee Hardaway scored 17 for the Suns, who outscored the Sixers 54-35 in the second half.
Phoenix has won seven straight games at home and posts a 14-3 mark at America West Arena this season. The Suns are 9-9 against the West, including a 5-4 record with the Pacific.
The Suns and Lakers split four meetings last season, with the home team winning each contest. LA has claimed 10 of the last 13 meetings overall, but has dropped three straight in Phoenix.
Saturday's game marks the front end of a home-and-home series between the Lakers and Suns. The teams will also meet Sunday in Los Angeles.
