Los Angeles Kings try to put the brakes on a four-game losing streak tonight when they head to Minnesota to face off with the Wild at the Xcel Energy Center.
LA suffered their latest setback on Saturday with a 3-2 loss to the Dallas Stars. Mathieu Schneider and Lubomir Visnovsky scored for the Kings, who have dropped six of their last seven.
Jamie Storr turned aside 26 shots in the setback for Los Angeles, which is 7-8-3-3 on the road this season.
Steve Heinze returned to the lineup on Saturday after missing the previous nine contests with a concussion and the team is expected to activate center Derek Armstrong (knee) prior to tonight's tilt. However, the Kings suffered yet another injury on Saturday when left wing Kip Brennan suffered a broken bone in his foot.
Brennan joins the walking wounded of Los Angeles that currently includes forwards Jason Allison, Adam Deadmarsh, Bryan Smolinski, Eric Belanger and Erik Rasmussen.
LA, which has dropped four-in-a-row away from home, will wrap up a brief two game road trip tomorrow night in Dallas.
Minnesota, meanwhile, comes into tonight's contest on a sour note as well, after dropping a 3-2 decision to the Calgary Flames on Saturday.
Andrew Brunette had a goal and an assist for the Wild, who had their winning streak halted at three games and their unbeaten stretch stopped at four. Dwayne Roloson turned aside 28 shots in the setback.
Minnesota, which is three points back of the Northwest Division-leading Vancouver Canucks, will beginning a season-long six-game set tonight on their home ice, where they are 12-6-3 on the season. Five of the six contests are against Western Conference foes.
Marian Gaborik, who scored three goals against the Kings on November 4, has dropped out of the top 10 in scoring, but has 23 goals and 41 points in 40 games to pace the Wild. Gaborik has recorded two assists in consecutive games and also leads the club with 12 multi-point games this season.
Minnesota is 1-0-1 on the year versus the Kings, but winless in its last four at home versus LA (0-2-2).
