(My Sportsbook) - The
Indiana Pacers will try to maintain their lead in the Central Division when they welcome the
New York Knicks to Conseco Fieldhouse on Wednesday.
The Pacers have a one-game lead on the Detroit Pistons.
Indiana has won five of its last seven games and is coming off a 105-104 overtime win over the Philadelphia 76ers. Al Harrington led the way with 28 points and Reggie Miller added 19. Jermaine O'Neal finished with 17 points and 13 rebounds in the victory, including the game-winning bucket with 1.6 seconds remaining in the extra session.
"The last play was set up for me," O'Neal said. "If Reggie [Miller] was wide open, he would have taken it, but he told me he'd get me the ball. It was a situation where I knew their defense would play me in the middle. I knew if I got to the baseline, they'd have trouble getting help."
The Pacers are 14-1 at home and 17-5 within the Eastern Conference.
The two teams have split a pair of meetings this season, with the home team prevailing in each case. The home team has won each of the last six meetings between the teams. Indiana has won its last seven games at Conseco Fieldhouse. New York leads the all-time series 70-48.
In the teams' last meeting, a 98-96 Knicks' win at New York Ron Artest threw a television monitor and smashed a high-definition camera to pieces. This earned Artest a three-game suspension and a $35,000 fine. He is eligible to return Friday against Orlando.
Earlier this season, Artest was fined $10,000 by the NBA for shoving Dallas guard Raja Bell and failing to leave the court quickly after being ejected in a loss to the Mavericks.
The Knicks knocked the Pacers out of the playoffs en route to the 1999 NBA Finals, and the Pacers returned the favor the following year.
