Valley Ranch, TX (My Sportsbook) - The Dallas Stars placed Jason Arnott on the injured reserve list Thursday after the center left Wednesday's season- opening 1-1 tie against the Colorado Avalanche with a right leg injury. The 27-year-old Arnott suffered a high ankle sprain just over eight minutes into the game when he fell awkwardly to the ice after being pulled down in front of the Avalanche net by Colorado's Vaclav Nedorost. He will be out of the lineup for 10-14 days and then be re-evaluated. Arnott had three goals and an assist in 10 games with Dallas last season after being traded from New Jersey on March 19. He collected 25 goals and 20 assists in 73 games for the Devils. The 6-4, 220-pounder has posted 200 goals and handed out 264 assists in 599 career NHL games. An arbitrator awarded Arnott a two-year, $7.5 million contract during the offseason. The Stars also recalled John Sim from the Utah Grizzlies of the American Hockey League. The right wing netted four goals in five games for Dallas in the preseason.
