Sharks invade the Staples Center

Los Angeles, CA (My Sportsbook) - The San Jose Sharks try to make it two wins in a row tonight when they head to Los Angeles to face off with the Kings at the Staples Center.

Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 29 shots for his first shutout this season and third of his career, as the Sharks blanked the Vancouver Canucks, 3-0, on Saturday. Vincent Damphousse, Patrick Marleau and Niklas Sundstrom scored for San Jose, which snapped a four-game winless streak (1-3-1).

Teemu Selanne and Jim Fahey each had two assists for the Sharks, who finished their eight-game homestand 3-3-2.

Captain Owen Nolan, who missed the game with a groin injury, is questionable for tonight's contest.

San Jose, which will return home for a pair of games following this game, is 8-8-2-3 on the road this season.

The Kings, meanwhile, come into Monday's tilt after dropping a tough 2-1 decision to the St. Louis Blues on Saturday.

Zigmund Palffy scored for Los Angeles, which has fallen in three straight overall and have lost five in a row at home. Felix Potvin turned aside 26 shots in the loss.

Defenseman Mathieu Schneider was scratched after aggravating a sore groin in Thursday's loss to Edmonton and is question mark for tonight's contest.

The Kings, who will start a three-game stretch on the road following tonight's affair, are 9-10-1 on their own ice this season.

San Jose, which defeated Los Angeles earlier in the season, has won the last two meetings with the Kings, but LA is 6-3-1 in the last 10 matchups. The Sharks are also winless in their last four trips to Staples (3-0-1).
