Atlanta, GA (My Sportsbook) - The Atlanta Thrashers are expected to introduce Bob Hartley as the team's new head coach at a Tuesday press conference. According to a report in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Hartley was selected over Terry Murray and will likely be behind the bench for Wednesday's game against Montreal. Hartley was under contract to Colorado for the balance of this season and next year. He is scheduled to earn about $1.7 million from the Avalanche, who fired Hartley earlier this season. In four-plus seasons with the Avalanche, Hartley posted a 193-109-48-9 record, including a 10-8-9-4 mark this year. He guided Colorado to the 2001 Stanley Cup championship. Following Hartley's dismissal, assistant coach Tony Granato was promoted to head coach. Atlanta fired head coach Curt Fraser on December 26 after the team got off to an 8-20-1-4 start. General manager Don Waddell then took over behind the bench on an interim basis.
