Greenville, NC (My Sportsbook) - East Carolina University head baseball coach Randy Mazey was suspended Monday. Athletics director Terry Holland also stated that assistant coach Billy Godwin will take over for the remainder of the school year, including the 2006 season. "We will assist coach Godwin in building a staff to provide this year's team with the leadership necessary to compete at the highest level," Holland said in a statement. "We will conduct a national search for a permanent coach at the conclusion of the 2006 season." Mazey, who will be paid during his absence, owns a record of 120-66-1 at East Carolina, including a 35-26 mark in 2005. Mazey took over when Keith LeClair resigned in 2002 due to the effects of ALS. |
