Los Angeles Lakers try to continue to climb back into the Western Conference playoff picture when they welcome the
Golden State Warriors to Staples Center.
Golden State has won eight of its last 13 games, but is coming off a 102-80 setback at the hands of the Sacramento Kings. Jason Richardson scored 28 points and grabbed six rebounds, and Troy Murphy scored 13 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in the loss.
It was the Warriors 13th straight loss to the Sacramento Kings.
"Guess what, guys? This wasn't the first time the Warriors have lost to the Kings," first-year Golden State coach Eric Musselman said. "This is 13 straight. There's no news flash there."
The Warriors are 5-13 on the road and have a 9-18 mark within the Western Conference.
Los Angeles has won eight of its last 10 games as it continues to try and dig itself out of the hole it dug itself. The Lakers are coming off a 96-92 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers. Shaquille O'Neal scored 32 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, while Kobe Bryant added 26 points and 11 assists.
"I'm glad the clock ran out finally. It was a very unusual night for us," Lakers coach Phil Jackson said. "We stumbled, kind of fumbled into that win."
Rick Fox went 1-of-7 from the field before drilling a pair of clutch treys in the fourth quarter.
"That's more indicative of the type of basketball that's won us championships," said Rick Fox. "We're improving and it's starting to show with some wins."
The Lakers are 14-6 at home and have a 11-12 mark within the Western Conference.
Los Angeles has won six straight and 10 of its last 12 games at Staples Center. Golden State has lost seven of its last 10 road games.
The Lakers have won 23 of the last 28 meetings between the teams and lead the all-time series 152-92.
