(My Sportsbook) - Jeremy Roenick and Mark Recchi scored 22 seconds apart midway through the third period to lift the
Philadelphia Flyers to a 3-1 win over the
Toronto Maple Leafs at Air Canada Centre Tuesday night.
Philadelphia has won four straight and 10 of its last 11 games, while the Maple Leafs had their 13-game unbeaten streak at home ended (12-1-1).
"This winning is an addiction, and right now, we have a big addiction," Roenick told the Philadelphia Daily News. "There is a really good feeling in the locker room right now. We're really loose, but we're focused on playing a team game. If you see our attitude in the locker room, it's really loose, but it's really focused."
Michal Handzus also scored for the Flyers, who earned their sixth consecutive win on the road. Roman Cechmanek turned aside 22 shots in the win. The six- game road winning streak is the longest for Philadelphia since October 12 - November 16, 1985, when the club stretched that mark to seven games.
Alexander Mogilny provided the lone goal for Toronto, which had its three-game winning streak come to an end. However, the Leafs are 6-3 in their last nine and Mikael Tellqvist made 23 saves in the loss.
With the score tied at one midway through the third, Roenick wristed a shot from right circle to beat Tellqvist stick side. Roenick collected the loose puck just inside the blue line and gave Philadelphia the lead seconds later.
Recchi's 200th goal as a Flyer sealed the victory at 10:10 of the third period. Pavel Brendl's shot trickled out in front and Recchi pushed the rebound past the goaltender.
Philadelphia scored first with 3:49 remaining in the opening period when Handzus recorded his 15th goal. Donald Brashear took a pass from Radovan Somik and quickly sent a feed in front to Handzus, who ripped a shot high into the left side of the net for a 1-0 lead.
Handzus is riding a four-game goal streak. He also has four assists to go along with his four tallies in the past six games.
After a scoreless second period, Mogilny tied the game with his 21st goal of the season 54 seconds into the third period.
Prior to the game, the Flyers learned that forward Justin Williams is expected to miss the remainder of the season due to reconstructive knee surgery.
Williams, 21, injured his left knee in Saturday's 3-2 win over Tampa Bay. He is expected to undergo an operation that will repair the torn anterior cruciate ligament in his knee. The injury will sideline Williams for four-to- eight months. On the season, Williams has recorded eight goals and 15 assists in 40 games.
