San Francisco, CA (My Sportsbook) - St. Louis third baseman Scott Rolen will not start Saturday's Game 3 of the National League Championship Series against San Francisco, Cardinals manager Tony La Russa announced Friday. However, La Russa did not say whether or not Rolen would see action off the bench versus the Giants. Rolen has been out since suffering a sprained left shoulder during Game 2 of the National League Division Series against the Arizona Diamondbacks. His status for the rest of the NLCS remains day-to-day. Rolen was injured when he collided with Arizona runner Alex Cintron while he was trying to field a grounder. Cintron was called out for interference. Miguel Cairo has been starting at third base in place of Rolen for the Cards. Cairo is 3-for-8 in the NLCS with a homer, two RBI and two runs scored. Rolen hit .429 in the Division Series with a homer and two RBI. He batted .266 with 31 homers and 110 RBI during the regular season.
