Montreal, Quebec (My Sportsbook) - One day after trading Jeff Hackett, the Montreal Canadiens recalled goaltender Mathieu Garon from Hamilton of the American Hockey League. Garon is the leading goaltender in the AHL this season with a record of 15-2-2 and a 1.77 goals-against average. He is 5-9-1 in 16 career NHL games. The Canadiens traded Hackett to the San Jose Sharks in exchange for forward Niklas Sundstrom and a third-round pick in the 2004 draft. The Sharks then sent Hackett and defenseman Jeff Jillson to Boston in exchange for defenseman Kyle McLaren and a fourth-round pick in 2004. Garon will serve as backup to Jose Theodore.
