Mexico City, Mexico (My Sportsbook) - A.J. Allmendinger captured the provisional pole for this Sunday's Gran Premio Telmex/Tecate Champ Car race in Mexico City, Mexico. The No.10 RuSport driver circled the 2.786-mile, 15-turn road course in one minute, 27.349 seconds (114.822 m.p.h.). Sebastien Bourdais holds the course record of 116.733 m.p.h. which he set in November 2004. Allmendinger earned one championship point for the provisional pole to move to within 21 points of fourth-place Paul Tracy (221-200). Tracy (1:27.962), Mario Dominguz (1:28.314), Justin Wilson (1:28.564) and Jimmy Vasser (1:28.773) completed the top-five. Tracy, who was quickest in the final practice, crashed at the end of each of the final two practice sessions. Two-time series champion Bourdais was sixth quickest. The second qualifying session is set for Saturday at 1:45 p.m. and the race is scheduled Sunday at 3:45 p.m. (et).
