NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Kicker Joe Nedney, the San Francisco 49ers' most consistent offensive threat this season, was deactivated Sunday because of a groin injury that had him listed as doubtful against Tennessee. Nedney was replaced in the lineup by Jose Cortez, a former 49ers kicker who was signed Friday. Cortez had been released by Philadelphia on Tuesday. It wasn't the homecoming Nedney wanted. The nine-year veteran was released by the Titans in February in a salary cap move. In San Francisco he has 67 points, including 43 consecutive points that was the most by one player in the NFL since Matt Stover had 49 in a row for the 2000 Ravens. But Nedney was on the field before kickoff Sunday wearing sweats and talking with his former teammates and coaches.Copyright © 2005 The Associated Press. All rights reserved.
