Salt Lake City, UT (My Sportsbook) - The
Memphis Grizzlies attempt to snap a six-game slide when they travel to Delta Center to face the Utah Jazz.
The Grizzlies have lost nine of their last 10 games, most recently a 101-91 road loss to the Golden State Warriors. Memphis turned the ball over 17 times leading to 21 Golden State points.
Pau Gasol led Memphis with 20 points and nine rebounds, while Shane Battier added 16 points and 11 rebounds. Lorenzen Wright scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds, and Drew Gooden added 14 points and 10 boards to the losing effort.
"They had a big first half," Battier said. "To score 66 points in the first half is very good in this league, and unfortunately we put ourselves in a little bit of a hole."
Memphis has a 3-20 mark on the road after losing four of its last five games away from The Pyramid. The Grizzlies are 8-27 within the Western Conference.
Utah has dropped two straight on the heels of a three-game winning streak. The Jazz are coming off a 92-90 loss to the Dallas Mavericks. Matt Harpring scored 20 points, and Karl Malone added 18 to the losing effort.
Harpring missed a jumper at the buzzer that would have forced overtime.
"We made some defensive errors down the stretch and Van Exel got a 3 on us," said Jazz assistant Phil Johnson, who is filling in for a suspended Jerry Sloan. "One of the things we didn't want to do was give up a 3 the last possession of the game. We overran some of our defensive help and didn't get back to their shooter."
The Jazz are 17-7 at home and have a 17-11 mark within the Western Conference.
Utah has won both meetings this season, posting victories both at home and on the road. The Jazz have won nine of their last 12 home games.
The Grizzlies are 2-13 at Delta Center and trail the all-time, overall series 25-4.
