Auburn Hills, MI (My Sportsbook) - The Detroit Pistons announced Wednesday that they have signed free agent forward Danny Manning to a contract. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. In 870 career NBA games, Manning has averaged 14.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists. He appeared in 41 contests, including 10 starts, with the Mavericks last season and averaged 4.0 points and 2.6 rebounds per game. Manning was drafted by the Los Angeles Clippers with the No. 1 overall pick in the 1988 NBA Draft. He played six seasons in Los Angeles before being traded to Atlanta in 1994 for Dominique Wilkins and a conditional first-round draft pick. The two-time NBA All-Star went on to play for the Hawks, Phoenix, Milwaukee, Utah and Dallas. In a related move, the club placed guard Juan "Pepe" Sanchez on the injured list with right knee patellar tendinitis.
