Denver, CO (My Sportsbook) - The
San Antonio Spurs try for their fifth straight win when they travel to Denver to take on the Nuggets at Pepsi Center.
The Spurs are 4-1 thus far on their marathon nine-game road trip. San Antonio improved to 13-12 as the guest this season with a 103-99 victory over the Golden State Warriors. Tim Duncan led the way with 30 points and 12 rebounds, while Tony Parker chipped in with 21 points and 10 assists.
"They always find a way to make it a game," Duncan said. "But we made big shots. We didn't want to go on a break before the [All-Star] break."
David Robinson was limited to six points and six boards while playing through right knee soreness. It was likely his last game at Oakland due to his impending retirement.
"I didn't want to lose my last game here," Robinson said. "It feels good. I saw a lot of signs and jerseys."
The Spurs are 19-11 within the Western Conference.
Denver has won two straight on the heels of a seven-game slide. The Nuggets' most recent triumph was a 102-100 overtime win over the Chicago Bulls. Juwan Howard scored 30 points, grabbed nine rebounds and dished out eight assists. Nene Hilario finished with 19 points and eight rebounds in the victory.
Chris Whitney scored 18 points for the Nuggets, including a three-pointer on the regulation buzzer that forced the extra session. Replays showed his toe was on the arc, but the Nuggets caught a break and made the most of it.
"Sometimes you've got to be lucky," said Whitney. "I thought I got fouled on shots early in the first quarter so we'll call it even."
The Nuggets are 9-15 at home and 8-22 within the Western Conference.
The two teams have split a pair of meetings this season with the home team prevailing in each case. San Antonio has won 19 of the last 23 meetings overall and eight of its last 11 at Denver.
San Antonio leads the all-time series 78-48.
