Baltimore, MD (My Sportsbook) - The Baltimore Orioles signed right-handed pitcher Rick Helling to a minor league contract on Tuesday and invited him to attend spring training. "Rick is a durable veteran who provides us added starting pitching depth at no risk," said Mike Flanagan, Orioles Vice President for Baseball Operations. "He is a proven winner with experience who takes the ball every fifth day." The 32-year-old Helling was 10-12 with a 4.51 ERA with Arizona last season. It was the first time in his nine-year career that he had a subpar .500 record as a full-time starter. Helling has a lifetime mark of 82-70 while also appearing with Texas and Florida. Helling has recorded double-figure wins in five consecutive seasons and tied for the American League lead in wins with 20 in 1998.
