Tampa, FL (My Sportsbook) - Florida Marlins left-handed pitcher Mark Redman won his salary arbitration hearing with the club on Tuesday. Redman became the first player to win an arbitration case this year. Redman made $300,000 last season and asked to be paid $2.15 million for the upcoming year. Florida was offering $1.8 million to the lefthander, but arbitrators Matthew Finkin, Jack Clarke and I. B. Helburn rendered the decision in Redman's favor. The 29-year-old was 8-15 last season with a 4.21 ERA for Detroit. In four major league seasons he has a lifetime mark of 23-30 with a 4.57 ERA while also playing with Minnesota. Redman was traded by the Tigers on January 11 in a deal that included minor league pitcher Jerrod Fuell to Florida for right-handed pitcher Gary Knotts and minor league pitchers Nate Robertson and Rob Henkel. The Marlins won an arbitration case with right-handed pitcher Vladimir Nunez on Saturday. Nunez had asked for $1.75 million, but was awarded $1.4 million. There are currently 13 players that remain in arbitration and the hearings will continue through February 20.
