New York, NY (My Sportsbook) - The
Atlanta Falcons and
Chicago Bears each placed six players on the NFC's Pro Bowl squad, as the league announced its group of all-stars on Wednesday.
The New York Giants and Seattle Seahawks are the second-most represented clubs with five players each, while the NFC South leading Carolina Panthers placed four on the squad.
Of the Bears' six players, five are from the defensive side of the ball. Leading that group is linebacker Brian Urlacher. Safety Mike Brown, cornerback Nathan Vasher, linebacker Lance Briggs and defensive tackle Tommie Harris round out the most defensive players for the Bears since the club's 1985 Super Bowl season when it also had five on the team.
The Falcons split their six players between offense and defense. Quarterback Michael Vick, running back Warrick Dunn and tight end Alge Crumpler make up the offensive corps, while linebacker Keith Brooking, cornerback DeAngelo Hall and defensive tackle Rod Coleman represent the defensive players.
Running back Tiki Barber, tight end Jeremy Shockey, defensive ends Michael Strahan and Osi Umenyiora and special teams standout David Tyree are the Giants on the squad.
Seattle is sending running back Shaun Alexander, quarterback Matt Hasselbeck, fullback Mack Strong and offensive linemen Steve Hutchinson and Walter Jones.
Quarterback Jake Delhomme, wide receiver Steve Smith and offensive lineman Mike Wahle are Carolina's offensive representative. Lineman Julius Peppers is the only defensive player for the Panthers.
Tampa Bay placed punter Josh Bidwell, cornerback Ronde Barber and linebacker Derrick Brooks on the squad.
Ronde is the twin brother of Tiki. This marks the second time the two players have made the Pro Bowl team in the same season. The first time was in 2004. Ronde was also on the team in 2001. This is Tiki's second Pro Bowl selection.
The Rams, Redskins, Cowboys, Vikings and Cardinals each placed two players on the team.
St. Louis is represented by wide receiver Torry Holt and offensive lineman Orlando Pace. Wide receiver Santana Moss and offensive lineman Chris Samuels come from Washington. Offensive lineman Larry Allen and safety Roy Williams were named from Dallas, while safety Darren Sharper and kick returner Koren Robinson will be shipped in from Minnesota. Arizona sends wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald and kicker Neil Rackers.
The defending NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles are represented by just one player, linebacker Jeremiah Trotter. Defensive lineman Shaun Rogers is the lone representative from the Detroit Lions, while center LeCharles Bentley is the lone player from New Orleans.
The San Francisco 49ers and Green Bay Packers failed to have a Pro Bowl player.
