Los Angeles, CA (My Sportsbook) - The
Washington Wizards continue their three-game road trip when they travel to Staples Center to take on the
Los Angeles Clippers.
Washington is coming off a 99-80 loss to the Sacramento Kings. Larry Hughes led the Wizards with 19 points. Michael Jordan scored 12 points on just 5-of-19 shooting from the floor. The Wizards shot a brutal 29.9 percent from the floor as a team.
"We played like we had a week off," Washington coach Doug Collins said. "The disappointing thing for me was that we played with no edge or determination. What was deflating was that we couldn't make a shot."
The Wizards were once again without leading scorer Jerry Stackhouse. Stackhouse is sidelined with a groin injury, and is listed as questionable for tonight's contest.
In defeat, Washington fell to 7-16 on the road and 6-10 against teams from the Western Conference. The Wizards are currently one-half game behind the Orlando Magic for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The Magic gained the edge with a win over the New Jersey Nets.
Los Angeles snapped a three-game slide with a 107-106 victory over the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday night. The victory snapped a six-game road losing streak.
Elton Brand led the way with 29 points and 11 rebounds. Andre Miller scored 19 points and dished out nine assists, while Quentin Richardson added 20 points to the win. These three players led a fourth-quarter rally for the Clippers, who have no realistic playoff hopes.
"It's too late for us now, but we're not going to give up," Brand said. "We want to take something good into next season. We can be the spoilers now."
The Clippers are 10-15 at home and have a 7-11 mark against teams from the Eastern Conference.
This is the first meeting of the season between the teams. The teams split a pair of meetings last season with the home squad prevailing in each case. Washington has won seven of the last 10 meetings between the teams.
Washington has a 62-24 edge in the all-time series.
