Minneapolis, MN (My Sportsbook) - Minnesota Timberwolves placed point guard Rod Strickland on the injured list with a strained groin. The 36-year-old was hurt in the second quarter of a 106-95 victory over San Antonio on January 27, and had missed the last five games. The veteran from DePaul University is averaging 7.1 points, 4.5 assists and 2.0 rebounds per game. Strickland has played in 43 games this season, starting in eight of them. Strickland, who was selected with the 19th overall pick in the 1988 draft by the Knicks, has also played for Miami, San Antonio, Portland and Washington. Minnesota also signed guard Mike Wilks to a 10-day contract on Wednesday. Wilks was one of the final cuts made by the Milwaukee Bucks in November, then played 16 games for the NBDL's Huntsville Flight. The 5-11 guard was signed by the Atlanta Hawks on December 24, 2002 and later waived on January 7, 2003, before being signed by Atlanta to two separate 10-day contracts. In 15 games with Atlanta, Wilks averaged 5.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.8 assists.
