Dallas, TX (My Sportsbook) - The
Dallas Stars will try and push their unbeaten streak to eight games tonight when they welcome the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim to AmericanAirlines Center.
Sergei Zubov's second goal of the game with 1/10th of a second remaining in overtime lifted the Stars to a 2-1 win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday.
Jason Arnott tried stuffing the loose puck past Kevin Weekes, but the goaltender was able to make the stop. Zubov, however, hustled in and backhanded the rebound underneath Weekes' blocker to beat the buzzer.
Four of Zubov's eight goals have come in his last eight games. Arnott, though, has gone 10 games without a goal after netting three in four games.
Dallas has won three straight to improve to 15-1-4 in its last 20 games. Marty Turco made 12 saves before leaving in the second period with a high ankle sprain.
Turco, as well as left wing Brenden Morrow, were placed on injured reserve on Thursday. The 27-year-old Turco, a top contender for the Vezina Trophy, will be sidelined at least four games, while Morrow, who suffered a chest contusion in Tuesday's win, is not expected to miss much time.
Ron Tugnutt, who needed to stop just six shots in relief of Turco on Tuesday, now assumes the role as the team's No. 1 goaltender. Tugnutt has compiled an 8-3-2 record with a 2.29 goals-against average. He has allowed 11 goals in the three losses but no more than two goals in any of his eight victories.
In 1996-97, Tugnutt replaced Damian Rhodes and helped Ottawa reach the playoffs for the first time. With Pittsburgh late in 1999-2000, he subbed for Jean-Sebastien Aubin and won a first-round playoff series.
