Columbus, OH (My Sportsbook) - The Columbus Blue Jackets put their sights on their third consecutive victory this evening when the Chicago Blackhawks enter the Nationwide Arena for a Central Division battle.
Columbus has strung together consecutive wins, including Thursday's 2-1 overtime victory over the Montreal Canadiens. Jaroslav Spacek scored a power- play goal just 28 seconds into overtime to lift the Blue Jackets past Montreal. Spacek also added an assist for the Blue Jackets in the winning effort.
The Blue Jackets started the extra session on the man advantage after Yanic Perreault took an obstruction penalty late in the third period. Andrew Cassels ripped a shot from the left circle and the rebound bounced into the right circle. Spacek then ended the game by wristing the puck between Jose Theodore's pads.
Geoff Sanderson scored the lone goal in regulation for Columbus. He dumped the puck into the net for his first goal in 13 games off a Spacek feed.
Marc Denis made 38 saves in the win for the Blue Jackets. Denis improved to 21-27-6 between the pipes on the season.
Chicago enters this game struggling, as it has dropped three straight. The Blackhawks' woes continued on Friday night in the form of a 4-2 loss at the hands of the San Jose Sharks.
Chris Simon and Tyler Arnason provided the scoring for Chicago in the losing effort. Jocelyn Thibault turned aside 29 shots for the Blackhawks.
Simon got the Blackhawks on the scoreboard at 17:19 of the second. Chicago then tied the game on Arnason's 16th goal 3:20 into the third.
These teams have split four meetings this season. Columbus got the best of the last meeting, 5-1, at Nationwide Arena on January 20. The home team is unbeaten in the last 10 meetings (8-0-2) in the series.
Chicago has posted just a 2-6-2-2 mark in its last 12 road tilts, while Columbus is unbeaten (4-0-2) in its last six home games. The Blackhawks are 9-14-6-2 on the road, while Columbus is 15-9-3-1 at home.
