Tucson, AZ (My Sportsbook) - Pitcher Rich Garces has decided to retire from baseball. The 31-year-old Garces had signed a minor league contract with the Rockies, who placed him on the involuntary retired list on Monday. Garces spent the last seven seasons with the Boston Red Sox, and also spent time with the Florida Marlins, Chicago Cubs and Minnesota Twins. In 2002, Garces was 0-1 with 7.59 ERA in 26 games for Boston. In 156 relief appearances from 1999 to 2001, the 31-year-old Garces went 19-3 with four saves and a 3.11 earned run average. He struck out 153 batters to just 66 walks. For his career, Garces own a 23-10 record with a 3.74 ERA in 287 games.
