Pittsburgh, PA (My Sportsbook) - The Pittsburgh Pirates have signed veteran outfielder Reggie Sanders pending the results of a physical expected to take place later in the week, according to a broadcast report. ESPN Radio 1250 reported that the 35-year-old Sanders will be brought in to play center field for the Pirates. Sanders hit .250 with 23 home runs and 85 RBI for the National League Champion San Francisco Giants in 2002. The 12-year veteran has spent some time with the Giants, Reds, Padres, Braves and Diamondbacks. He has a career .266 average with 218 home runs and 715 RBI in 1307 major league games. Sanders was a seventh-round pick by the Cincinnati Reds in 1988. After eight seasons in Cincinnati, Sanders played one year each with San Diego, Atlanta, Arizona and San Francisco. He was a key contributor for the 2001 World Champion Diamondbacks.
