Orlando, FL (My Sportsbook) - The
Orlando Magic continue to push for a postseason berth when they welcome the
Chicago Bulls to TD Waterhouse Centre tonight.
Chicago has lost nine of its last 11 games, most recently a 110-82 setback to the Philadelphia 76ers. Jalen Rose scored 20 points and handed out five assists and Tyson Chandler added 16 points and 13 rebounds to the losing effort.
"It's definitely embarrassing," Chandler said. "We can't continue to let people have big nights against us. We've got to step up to the challenge."
The Bulls are just 3-27 on the road and have a 14-23 mark within the Eastern Conference.
On Wednesday, Orlando made the first deal of the trading deadline period. Mike Miller and Ryan Humphrey were sent to the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for Drew Gooden, Gordan Giricek and cash considerations. The Magic also included a pair of draft picks in the deal.
Gooden, in his rookie season out of Kansas, comes to Orlando after averaging 12.1 points and 5.8 rebounds per game with Memphis. The fourth overall selection in last year's draft, he has started 29 of the 51 games he's played in this season.
Giricek, a 25-year-old shooting guard from Croatia and also in his rookie season, has started in 35 of the 49 games he's played in this season. Giricek left Memphis averaging 11.2 points per contest. His 29 points in his NBA debut against Dallas on October 30 was the fifth-highest NBA scoring debut in history.
The Magic snapped a three-game slide with a 99-94 victory over the New Orleans Hornets. Tracy McGrady and Mike Miller scored 24 points apiece in the victory.
"Going into the game, I really believed we had to win," Orlando coach Doc Rivers said. "I just thought, we can't get down any further under .500 and we can't get any further out of the race."
Orlando is currently tied with the Washington Wizards for the eighth and final playoff berth in the Eastern Conference.
The Magic are 16-11 at home and have an 18-17 mark within the Eastern Conference.
The two teams have split a pair of meetings this season with the home team prevailing in each case. Orlando has dropped six of its last games entering tonight's contest. Chicago has dropped eight of its last nine road games.
The all-time series is tied 25-25.
