St. Paul, MN (My Sportsbook) - The Minnesota Wild will try to stay undefeated through three games for the second time in their brief history when they open a four- game homestand against the
Florida Panthers Tuesday at the Xcel Energy Center.
The Wild, who started off 3-0-3 a year ago, rallied to a 2-2 tie on Saturday against the St. Louis Blues to stay undefeated after topping the Boston Bruins in their season-opener.
With St. Louis leading 2-1 midway through the third period, Andrew Brunette knotted the game with 16 seconds remaining on a 6-on-4 advantage, as the Wild pulled goaltender Dwayne Roloson following a Blues' penalty for having too many men on the ice.
Marian Gaborik started the play with a pass from behind the net to Brunette, who then beat Fred Brathwaite between the pads with a shot from the slot.
Roloson finished with 20 saves and stopped a 3-on-1 breakaway in the extra session.
Minnesota was also undefeated during the preseason (7-0-1).
The Panthers are also coming off an overtime affair, their second of the season, but came out on the winning end.
Olli Jokinen scored the game-winning goal with 10.2 seconds remaining in the extra session to lift Florida over the Atlanta Thrashers, 5-4, on Saturday. Jokinen also scored the tying goal in the third period and finished with four points.
Viktor Kozlov added a goal and four assists for the Panthers, who fell in overtime to Tampa Bay in their opener on Thursday.
On a 3-on-3 in overtime, Jokinen planted himself at the right corner of the crease and tapped in a rebound off a Kozlov shot from the slot area. The Thrashers had a 4-on-3 in overtime due to a Florida penalty, but just 10 seconds later the teams skated even when Ilya Kovalchuk was penalized for an illegal stick.
Roberto Luongo and newly acquired Jani Hurme split the goaltending duties for Florida. Luongo allowed one goal on 18 shots and Hurme gave up three goals on 16 shots.
Last year the Wild blanked Florida, 6-0, in Minnesota.
