=== Martin makes it two-in-a-row ===
Fontana, CA (My Sportsbook) - Mark Martin captured Friday night's Racetickets.com 200 at the California Speedway. The No.6 Scott's Roush Racing Ford crossed the finish line just three lengths ahead of Todd Bodine.
The Craftsman Truck Series victory was Martin's second consecutive win and third of his truck career.
Pole winner David Reutimann brought the field down to the green flag and quickly powered off to a five-length lead. But the field reeled him back in just as quickly and on lap five, Mike Skinner and Ted Musgrave both passed him for the lead.
Skinner's lead lasted until lap 11 when the hottest driver in the series, Bodine, slid underneath for the lead. Bodine won the last three events of 2005 and finished a strong second to Mark Martin last weekend.
Bodine was the leader until he pitted for fuel and re-emerged in third place. His night would quickly get worse. On the restart, Bodine passed on the left before the start/finish line and was penalized to the tail end of the field - 31st place. At least he still had 75 laps to make up the distance.
Jack Sprague inherited the lead after the penalty to Bodine, but he had last week's winner Martin right on his rear bumper.
Martin didn't stay there long. On lap 30 he got side-by-side down the backstretch and as they crossed the start/finish line for lap 31 the Nextel Cup veteran took the lead.
In a half dozen laps the lead was almost one full second and climbing. But no lead was safe as long as Bodine was still on the track and running hard. By lap 40, the Germain Toyota driver was battling David Starr for 14th place. Eight laps later Bodine re-entered the top-10.
Bodine was still on the move following a caution flag and with 43 laps to go had slipped into fifth place.
Then a Kelly Sutton spin brought out the sixth caution flag and it allowed the leaders to pit under yellow. Had a caution not appeared within 10 laps, the leaders would have been forced to pit for fuel under the green flag.
Seven drivers stayed out on the track, but the first driver that could run to the checkered flag for certain was Bodine.
While Jon Wood held the lead with 35 laps to go, the race appeared to be between Bodine and Martin who were running third and fourth, respectively. They were also on much newer tires and reeling the leader in.
The two passed Chaffin and took dead aim on Wood. It took about half a lap to catch Wood and they quickly disposed of the Virginia native.
The two fastest cars were now out front and were preparing for a 25-lap "battle of the titans." It was also a rematch from one week ago at Daytona when a caution flag during the green-white-checker finish robbed the fans of a great finish.
Following a caution, the pair quickly put a gap between themselves and the rest of the field.
With 20 laps to go, Bodine slipped underneath Martin for the lead. He moved out to about three lengths, but Martin wouldn't go away. Two laps later Martin got a run on Bodine and charged back into the lead with relative ease.
Slowly Martin expanded his lead, one length, two lengths, out to four lengths with 16 laps remaining. At lap 86 of 100 the lead was more than one second and it didn't look good for Bodine or anyone else.
On lap 98, Mike Wallace slammed the outside wall bringing out a final caution and left Martin, Bodine and his Germain Toyota teammate Ted Musgrave with a two-lap green-white-checker finish.
The top-three were in the exact same position as last week in Daytona when a caution flag halted any chances that the teammates had to win the race.
Martin got off to a great restart, but Bodine wasn't far away. On the white- flag lap Bodine took his truck deep into turn four and was right on Martin's bumper, but he couldn't do anything with him unless he wanted to slam him into a wall.
Bodine didn't choose that questionable move, he wanted to beat Martin cleanly, but he just didn't have enough horsepower.
Martin took the checkered flag with Bodine and Musgrave finishing second and third, respectively.
Reutimann and Sprague completed the top-five.
The series resumes in three weeks at the Martinsville Speedway on Friday, March 17th.
