Minneapolis, MN (My Sportsbook) - The
Minnesota Timberwolves will put their 14-game home winning streak on the line this evening when they host the Utah Jazz at the Target Center.
The T'Wolves are beginning a three-game homestand, in which they will face Utah, Cleveland and New York. Minnesota has won 14 straight and 17 of its last 18 home tilts to improve its mark to 24-5 at the Target Center.
Minnesota has won four straight, 10-of-11 and 16 of its last 17 contests to vault into a tie for fourth place with Portland in the Western Conference. The T'Wolves are just three games behind third place San Antonio as well.
Minnesota continued its excellent play on Monday, posting a 117-114 win over the Milwaukee Bucks. Kevin Garnett continued his tremendous play, registering 34 points and 12 rebounds, while dishing out eight assists in 41 minutes of play.
"With Gary [Payton] here now, they're a little more edgy, a little more aggressive, a little more feisty," Garnett said of the new look Bucks. "If I was to credit anything, it was our defense. Our defense is what's winning games for us."
Wally Szczerbiak added 26 points on 6-of-12 field goal shooting, while he drilled 12-of-12 from the charity stripe. Troy Hudson tacked on 21 points and seven assists, and Rasho Nesterovic tallied 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Utah comes in losers of two of its last three games, including a disappointing 103-92 decision to Memphis on Monday. The Jazz currently reside in the sixth playoff spot in the West, but the Lakers lurk only two games behind them.
Karl Malone scored 22 to lead Utah in the loss, while Matt Harpring finished with 21.
The Jazz will be playing the second of their current four-game road trip. Utah has lost two of its last three on the road to fall to 12-14 in such games for the year.
Utah has dominated this series as of late, winning four straight, including all three meetings this year. Most recently, the Jazz posted a 109-97 win over the T'Wolves at the Delta Center last week. Utah has won its last two trips to Minnesota.
