Toronto Raptors and
Boston Celtics open a home-and-home set tonight at FleetCenter.
Toronto has won six of its last nine games but has faded from postseason contention. The Raptors are coming off a 103-95 road loss to the Chicago Bulls, which kicked their the current two-game jaunt.
Voshon Lenard scored 20 points, Vince Carter tallied 19 and Jerome Williams added 16 points and 11 rebounds to the losing effort.
The Raptors got outrebounded 53-32.
"They really hurt us on the boards," Raptors coach Lenny Wilkens said. "We just gave up too many second shots."
Toronto plays 10 of its next 13 games away from Air Canada Centre, and it is just 6-20 on the road this season.
Boston is currently the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference, one-half game behind the fourth-seeded Philadelphia 76ers. The Celtics snapped a two-game skid with a 71-69 victory over the Indiana Pacers. Antoine Walker finished with 18 points and Paul Pierce added 16 to the victory.
The Celtics took full advantage of 23 Indiana turnovers, turning them into 19 points. It was the sixth straight loss for the reeling Pacers.
"I said before the game, I don't care how many games they have lost in a row," Celtics coach Jim O'Brien said. "You are playing one of the best teams in the East, and they have so many weapons that it makes it so difficult to beat them."
The Celtics are 18-10 at home and have a 21-16 mark within the Eastern Conference.
Toronto won the first meeting of the season 98-95 at FleetCenter on November 29. The Raptors have won two straight and eight of the last 11 meetings between the teams.
Boston leads the all-time series 15-12.
