New York, NY (My Sportsbook) - New York Rangers forward Pavel Bure underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on Thursday to repair a posterior tear of the medial meniscus in his right knee. "The procedure performed on Pavel this morning went extremely well," said Dr. Andrew Feldman, who performed the surgery at St. Vincent's Hospital. "He will begin his rehabilitation program immediately and we are extremely optimistic that he will return to full form." An MRI on Wednesday revealed the injury, but showed no damage to either the anterior cruciate ligament or the medial collateral ligament. The recovery period for the Russian Rocket is expected to last two weeks. Bure sustained the injury during New York's preseason game against rival New Jersey on Tuesday night. Bure notched an assist in the Rangers' 2-1 overtime loss and has one goal and two assists in the last two games. This is not the first time that Bure has had trouble with his right knee. The 31-year-old had the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee replaced for the second time in less than four years in March 1999. He also tore the same ACL and required surgery in November 1995. Bure tallied 12 goals and handed out eight assists in 12 games last season with the Rangers after he was traded from Florida on March 18.
