Salt Lake City, UT (My Sportsbook) - Utah Jazz center Greg Ostertag is expected to miss at least three games with an abdominal strain after he donated a kidney to his younger sister. A spokesman for the Jazz said that the strain was not career threatening. The 29-year-old is supposed to travel with the team on a three-game exhibition road trip and could see action in the third contest on October 22. Ostertag donated a kidney to his younger sister, Amy Hall, in June. Hall, 26, has had type 1 diabetes since she was seven and suffered kidney failure in March. Her kidney problems started in 1999. When it was determined Hall needed a new kidney, Ostertag underwent tests which showed he was a perfect match to be a donor. If the 7-foot-2 Ostertag makes a full recovery, he will be the second player in a three-year span to return to the NBA with only one kidney. San Antonio's Sean Elliott made a return after receiving a kidney from his brother in March 2000. In three preseason games, Ostertag has averaged four points and 4.3 rebounds.
