Washington, DC (My Sportsbook) - Michael Jordan announced Thursday that he will return to the Washington Wizards for a second season. "I am excited to return to the basketball court this year," said Jordan. "My love for the game of basketball continues to drive my decision. Physically, I am feeling very strong, and feel that the steps I took in the off-season have allowed me to return to the game in great condition." After signing a two-year contract with Washington, Jordan averaged 22.9 points, 5.7 rebounds and 5.2 assists in 60 games last season. Washington added depth in the offseason, acquiring Jerry Stackhouse, Larry Hughes, Bryon Russell and first-round draft picks Jared Jeffries and Juan Dixon. "I am especially excited about this year's Washington Wizards," said Jordan. "I am convinced that the changes made this summer will greatly enhance our team, and feel that we are moving in the right direction. No decisions have been made as to my exact role on the team, but I expect that Coach Collins will make those assessments next week in training camp." Jordan underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee in late February and returned just three weeks after the operation. However, he was not able to finish the season because of recurring soreness in his knee and sat out the final eight games. A five-time MVP and 13-time All-Star, Jordan has won six NBA Championships -- all with Chicago -- during his illustrious career. Jordan owns career averages of 31.0 points per game, 6.2 rebounds per game and 5.4 assists per game.
