Seattle Seahawks, quarterback GIBRAN HAMDAN and punter GABE LINDSTROM, along with linebacker DAVID BERGERON of the
Carolina Panthers, are the NFL Europe League Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week for games played the third week of the season (April 1-2), the league announced today.
Hamdan compiled the highest possible passer rating of 158.3 by completing 12 of 15 attempts for 189 yards and three touchdowns, leading the Amsterdam Admirals to a 38-20 win over the Frankfurt Galaxy. He became the first NFL Europe League quarterback to reach that mark since Craig Nall of the Scottish Claymores in Week 9 of the 2003 season. Through three games, Hamdan leads NFL Europe with 644 passing yards and five touchdowns and ranks second with a passer rating of 99.1.
"We played well in all phases of the game," Hamdan said. "Now we have to keep it going."
Fellow Seahawk Lindstrom earned Special Teams honors, averaging 49.3 yards on six punts with a long of 63 yards for the Cologne Centurions in a 20-10 loss to the Rhein Fire. He also placed two punts inside the opponents 20-yard line and ended the day with a net average for 43.5. Lindstrom leads NFL Europe with an average of 42.7 on 15 punts with five inside the 20.
Bergeron, allocated by the Panthers, was named Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts for Cologne. He led the team with 11 tackles and added a first-quarter interception. Bergeron has totaled 16 tackles this season and is tied for the league lead with two interceptions.
Berlins German defensive end CHRISTIAN MOHR was named National Player of the Week after leading the Berlin Thunders defensive effort in a 17-17 tie with the Hamburg Sea Devils. Mohr recorded seven tackles and 0.5 sacks, taking his season total to 13 tackles, 0.5 sacks and one pass defensed.
Mohr spent the 2004 season on the practice squad of the Seattle Seahawks.
