New York, NY (My Sportsbook) - The New York Knicks have been granted a $4.54 million midlevel injury exception by the NBA as a result of Antonio McDyess' season-ending knee surgery. The exception is the maximum available to any team under the injured player exception clause in the collective bargaining agreement. New York already has another $4.5 million exception, granted by the league to all teams. McDyess underwent successful surgery on Wednesday to repair a fractured kneecap, which he suffered in Saturday's preseason game against Phoenix. The Knicks are also without Latrell Sprewell, who is sidelined with a broken hand.
