Phoenix, AZ (My Sportsbook) - The
Toronto Raptors try to halt a five-game losing streak on Monday when they conclude their West Coast road trip with a matchup against the
Phoenix Suns at America West Arena.
The Raptors are 0-4 so far on their five-game swing and are coming off a 111-110 setback to the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday. Lamar Odom's jumper with 2.3 seconds left in the game lifted LA to the win.
Vince Carter paced Toronto with a game-high 28 points, but his desperation jump shot at the buzzer rimmed out. Antonio Davis had 22 points and eight rebounds and Morris Peterson scored 20 for the Raptors.
Alvin Williams scored 12 and Jerome Williams had 11 for the Raptors, who lost despite making 54.7 percent of their shots and sinking 23-of-26 free throws.
The Raptors have lost six of their last eight road games and are 8-25 away from home this season. Toronto is 6-20 against the Western Conference.
Phoenix is also fresh off a tough setback on Sunday, as it suffered an 85-75 defeat in Houston. With the win, the Rockets gained sole possession of the eighth spot in the Western Conference, pulling one game ahead of the Suns.
Stephon Marbury led the Suns with 19 points and seven assists. Anfernee Hardaway scored 17 and Shawn Marion contributed 14 points and 12 rebounds for Phoenix, which has lost three of its last four tilts and eight of its past 12.
The Suns shot a horrid 33 percent from the field, including 1-of-10 from three-point range. Marion was just 4-of-18 from the floor and missed all five of this three-point attempts.
Phoenix is 23-9 at home this season and 15-11 against Eastern Conference opponents.
This is the final meeting between the Raptors and Suns this season. These teams met back on February 21 in Toronto, with the Raptors capturing a 92-89 victory. The last time Toronto swept a season series with Phoenix was the 1996-97 campaign.
