Santa Clara, CA (My Sportsbook) - The San Francisco 49ers announced on Thursday that they have traded quarterback Ken Dorsey and an undisclosed pick in the 2007 draft to the Cleveland Browns for veteran quarterback Trent Dilfer. Dilfer, who quarterbacked the Baltimore Ravens to a Super Bowl win in 2001, will provide a veteran presence behind Alex Smith, last year's No. 1 overall pick. Smith struggled mightily last season as he started seven games for San Francisco, but enjoyed little success in throwing only one touchdown pass compared to 11 interceptions. Dilfer, a 13-year veteran, played his college ball at nearby Fresno State, and was the sixth overall pick in the 1994 draft by Tampa Bay. He spent six seasons with the Buccaneers before moving on to Baltimore. He spent four seasons in Seattle and played last season in Cleveland. He has started 107 games in his career with 106 touchdown passes and 117 interceptions. Dorsey has thrown eight touchdown passes and 11 interceptions in 10 starts during his three-year stay in San Francisco. The University of Miami product got three starts last season, but was unimpressive as he threw for just 481 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions.
